Wayne, Pokagon State Park, and the Fremont Outlet Mall. In less than an hour you can be in Shipshewana with all that Amish country has to offer.

  • The R&R Elk Ranch lies along the St. Joe River with wooded acreage. Canoeing, kayaking, and elk viewing make for a fun day.

  • The St. Joe River Greenway is a beautiful 1.2 mile nature walk that features many birds and animals along the asphalt path.

  • Bixler Lake Park has sand beaches for swimming, fishing, and birding.

  • The Gene Stratton Porter State Historic Site is built around the author’s “cabin in the wildflower woods” where the famous author studied and wrote inspired by the beautiful setting on Sylvan Lake. Formal gardens are much like they were when she lived here.
